A Journey from Nepal to the USA in Pursuit of Dreams

In August 2017, I embarked on a journey that would forever change the course of my life. Leaving behind the familiar streets of Nepal and the warm embrace of home, I set off to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in the United States. It was a decision that marked one of the most significant milestones in my personal and professional journey—a decision that, in retrospect, was a powerful catalyst for growth, independence, and self-discovery.

Before taking this leap, I had completed my high school education at St. Xavier's College, Maitighar, in Nepal, with a concentration in Biology. Like many, I had followed a path that seemed predefined, focusing on what I thought was my future. But deep within, I felt a calling that urged me to explore a different field, one that resonated more with my passion and curiosity: Computer Science.

Choosing to shift my focus from Biology to Computer Science wasn't just a change of academic direction; it was a bold step towards embracing the unknown. It was about stepping out of my comfort zone, challenging myself, and daring to pursue a path that felt truer to who I was becoming. This decision, though daunting, was the first of many that would lead me toward a life of independence and maturity.

Moving to the USA was more than just an academic pursuit. It was an opportunity to reinvent myself in a new environment, to build a life on my terms. Living in a foreign country, far from the familiar comforts of home, I learned what it truly meant to be independent. I navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and faced setbacks—all of which shaped me into a stronger, more resilient individual.

As I reflect on my journey, I often think about the parallel world where I never took this step—where I stayed in Nepal and continued down a different path. While there's no way to know exactly how that life would have unfolded, I firmly believe that the decision to move to the USA was the best choice I could have made. It provided me with experiences and opportunities that I wouldn't have encountered otherwise. It allowed me to grow both personally and professionally in ways that would have been unimaginable had I remained within my initial trajectory.

This journey has taught me that the most significant moments in life often come from taking risks and embracing change. It's easy to stay where we're comfortable, to follow the path that seems safe and predictable. But real growth happens when we step into the unknown, when we trust ourselves enough to pursue what truly excites us, even if it means venturing into uncharted territory.
